RCS&RDS seeks more subscribers

Romania’s RCS&RDS has launched a new campaign in order to win more subscribers in the face of unrelenting competition from its two main rivals Romtelecom and UPC Romania.
According to ZF, the company is now offering new customers in a few cities, including the capital, Bucharest, free wireless routers that allow for the reception of its data services on devices – such as smartphones, laptops and tablets – equipped with WiFi modules.
However, Romtelecom already offers free wireless modems under certain conditions, while UPC Romania charges a monthly fee of RON8 (€1.83).
RCS&RDS is both the leading cable and DTH platform operator in Romania, with annual revenues in the country of over €400 million.
It also has a presence, through its Digi-branded DTH – and in some cases also cable – operations, in five other CEE markets.
