Race for Czech TV job hots up
11.09 Europe/London, August 23, 2011 By Chris Dziadul

No fewer than 36 candidates have put forward their names for the post of general director at the Czech public broadcaster Ceske Televize (CT).

The post was vacated by Jiri Janecek, who cited medical reasons for his departure, after eight years in office and his successor is likely to be announced by the end of September.

Local sources have for some time made Petr Dvorak, a former head of CME-owned TV Nova, one of the leading favourites for the post.

However, he is expected to face strong competition from (amongst others) Roman Bradac, who is currently news director at CT.
