Open Cable for VOO and Numéricable
November 29, 2012 07.22 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Belgian cable operators VOO and Numéricable also have to open up their networks to third parties.

The two cablers did not achieve a suspension of the Open Cable ruling following a decision by the Court of Appeal in Brussels.

BIPT, the Belgian telecoms authority, ruled at the end of 2010 that all cable operators in the country have to open up their networks to third-party providers.

The operators protested against the measure, but now the Court of Appeal in a final ruling has said that VOO and Numéricable must comply.

Last September, the Court issued a similar verdict in a case launched by Flemish operator Telenet. According to the judge “”these obligations do no serious and difficult to repair harm to the operators.”
