Numericable losing TV subs
August 2, 2012 17.52 Europe/London By Julian Clover

French cablenet Numericable continues to produce a mixed bag of financials, with the loss of 18,000 TV subscribers in the last quarter. 41,000 subscribers have been lost since the beginning of the year.

Subscriber erosion among TV households has not dented its sales figures, which recorded a slight increase to €219 million in the second quarter.

Speeds of 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps are available to 4.569 million households, 532,000 have so far signed on the dotted line, well ahead of its half million 2012 target.

943,000 subscribers take its internet offer as a whole.

TV may receive a boost by the debut of the advanced La Box receiver that made its debut at the beginning of July.

Meanwhile the wholesaling of its network by rivals Auchanbox, Dartybox and Bouygues Telecom added another 9% to reach 246,000 third-party subscribers.
