Hello,
a little of your expert knowledge is required.
When booting from cold my ipbox is very noisy, once it goes quite if i reboot a second time then its ok, its only when its been stood (cold start) i reckon its the hard drive not the cooling fan.
The info required is when we update software / images etc are we uploading these to the board on the receiver or to the harddrive.
eg if the hard drive goes all together kaput will i be able to add another easily or am i risking too much ?

ta 4 looking

Images go on the board (unless you are multibooting) so disk failure wouldnot be the end of the world, just recordings would be lost

This sounds like the Fan problem on the ipbox 9000. not a hdd problem

The best way to fix it is reslace the fan with a better one....

I reckon its the fan too, its a common problem, i replaced mine for the same reason.

also if you replace the HDD go for a 2.5" one , these give off less heat than the 3.52 ones

Easy to test just by disconnecting the fan at the end of the night & see what it's like next morning on a cold boot.

Either disconnect the drive or fan or open the unit and boot up while it is open. Hard drive noise will be the centre bearing being worn and will get noiser before failure . Unfortunatley its a matter of use it and if failes then all your recordings are lost or replace it now . The cost of drives have come down.

Just hope its the cheaper fan option issue . Good luck:thum:

One final possibility with the fan. There are 2 versions on the Cuberevo box with different fan positions. The version with the fan at the back near the on / off switch is very prone to getting dirty and I have had a very noisy fan which was fixed 100% by removing cleaning and replacing. The older version with the fan in front of the HDD, I have fixed by removing the 2 fan bracket screws and re-attaching the fan bracket using 2 double sided sticky pads. I hope this helps.

had the same problem with my hdd as described. Solution was to use some foam packing placed between the hdd and plastic holder rails. Also place some foam where the hdd holder comes into contact with the metal case. Problem fixed for me.
