New blow for TV Avala

Serbia’s government is understood to have stopped the sale of the troubled station TV Avala.
According to Balkan Insight, this follows pressure it had brought to bear on Zeljko Mitrovic, the station’s co-owner, who was set to sell his share in the station to Grand Production and Beohemija.
Although officially only 4.95%, Balkan Insight believes he is also behind the Austrian company Greenberg Invest, a 48.41% shareholder in TV Avala.
The station has now had its licence withdrawn by the regulator RRA and faces the real prospect of closure.
