Netflix will remain ad-free
June 2, 2015
Netflix has dismissed reports that it is preparing to launch third party adverts on its streaming service. The firm confirmed that it is testing pre-roll and post-roll teasers for its original content as part of a limited trial, but product ads will not be interrupting user’s viewing any time soon.
“We are not planning to test or implement third-party advertising on the Netflix service. For some time, we’ve teased Netflix originals with short trailers after a member finishes watching a show,” a Netflix spokesperson told media website Mashable.
“Some members in a limited test now are seeing teasers before a show begins. We test hundreds of potential improvements to the service every year. Many never extend beyond that.”
