Netflix launches on Virgin

Netflix is making its debut on Virgin Media today (Tuesday) with the cablenet offering an initial six months of the streaming service free to Premiere or VIP Collection subscribers.

Once the promotional period has passed Netflix will be charged at £5.99 per month.

Around 1.8 million subscribers that have the Virgin Media TiVo box will be able to view the service that includes series including House of Cards, Hemlock Grove, Arrested Development and Orange is the New Black.

Existing Netflix members will be able to use their current login within Virgin Media TiVo.

Dana Strong, Virgin Media’s chief operating officer, said: “With the addition of our Netflix app, Virgin Media customers have an unbeatable line-up of movies and TV series to choose from. Whether it’s part of a subscription or pay-per-view, Virgin Media TiVo will help you find everything from the classic gem you’ve always wanted to watch to this summer’s biggest hits, all seamlessly integrated for simple, easy viewing”.

Following a pilot, Netflix is available in the Apps & Games section of Virgin Media TiVo and coincides with new updates that have been made to the TiVo box

These include improved WishLists and recommendations plus improvements to energy efficiency.
