Nagra puts future in the cloud
09.27 Europe/London, August 11, 2011 By Julian Clover

IBC 2011 Hall 1. Stand No. 1.C81. The centerpiece of Nagra’s IBC activities will be a demonstration of the company’s multiscreen television solution and cloud-based services enabling service providers to deploy a multi-device environment, with a consistent user experience and content protection at its core.

The demonstration will show common services running across a wide variety of devices including iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and phones, PCs, connected televisions and set-top boxes, all of which will be powered by Nagra’s cloud-based technology.

Notice how already the industry is pulling away from the near Apple exclusivity that was present at last year’s event.

Nagra will show the companion devices capable of controlling connected TVs and set-top boxes alike with a single swipe of the finger, providing instant access to multi-day EPG and VOD catalogues.

The company will also show VOD services using a SmarDTV CI+ hybrid CAM; Over-the-top IP-based linear TV and VOD services on IP set-top boxes running the latest generation of OpenTV middleware with Nagra’s latest user interface designs and HbbTV demonstrations, including OpenTV middleware-based set-top boxes accessing live German HbbTV services and HbbTV capable connected televisions accessing services provided by the NAGRA Federated headend.
