if your box have rs232 port, then you can instal from pc soft using rs232 cable (connect box to pc with rs232 cable)

box can be recovered as long as you not been re flashing with wrong file. If it happens to be power related the a cap change will do it look for good tv/satellite repair shop if your not handy with a soldering iron

Told you it wont work unless you try to change the cap which is your good with the soldering iron you can do yourself or a good satellite/tv repair shop will do the work for you.
