The success story of digital terrestrial television is continuing, according to Germany’s transmitter company Media Broadcast.

The full-service provider for the broadcasting and media industries and provider of DVB-T broadcast networks said it is now switching on transmitters for more private broadcasters.

In Berlin, Servus TV, Anixe TV and Juwelo TV have started transmissions, while in the Hannover-Braunschweig area Das Vierte has launched. Anixe TV also came on the air in the Rhine-Main area (Frankfurt).

Home shopping channel QVC Deutschland has extended its contract with Media Broadcast for terrestrial distribution in Rhine-Main, Berlin, Hamburg, Saarland and Nuremberg. QVC hopes to expands its footprint with more transmitters in the near future.

In a statement, Henrik Rinnert, SVP and head of the TV Busines unit at Media Broadcast, said: “The continuing strong commitment of the TV channels to DVB-T demonstrates the extraordinarily high level of attractiveness of this distribution path. We also see the potential of DVB-T with the continuously developing hybrid applications (HbbTV on DVB-T, ed.) to our partners to offer pioneering opportunities for new business opportunities.”
