EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR claims AC Milan's interest last summer was similar to being told pop star Beyonce fancies him.

The Arsenal striker was linked with both the Italian giants and Barcelona, before finally penning a new deal at the Emirates.

But while he is happy to remain in North London, the 25-year-old admits his head was turned briefly.

He told ESPN: "I am happy playing for this club and to be honest I am happy AC Milan, one of the legendary clubs in the world, were looking at me.

"For me that must be something special. It is like a boy being told Beyonce is looking for them.

"They told me Milan were looking for me. I am quite happy with that but the most important thing is playing for Arsenal.

"I am very happy here so there is no reason for me moving."

Looking ahead to Wednesday's big Champions League clash, Adebayor revealed a cunning plan to beat Manchester United — starve them of possession.

Arsene Wenger's men come up against the trophy holders at Old Trafford in the first leg of the semi-final.

And while he has a healthy respect for the likes of Wayne Rooney and PFA Player of the Year Ryan Giggs, Adebayor believes his team-mates know how to stop them.

He added: "We like to play our own football with the ball on the ground and pass it around.

"As soon as you keep the ball from Manchester United they have a problem.

"Every single time you play against them they want to take control of the game — if they are in possession more, then you are dead.

"We have to take the control of the ball because players like Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Giggs can't make a difference if they don't have possession.

"If their team control the game, you can easily concede four, five, six even seven if you want."
