The driver of this jeep managed to crash over a guard rail and into Sydney Harbour last night. Picture:

A MOTORIST who lost control of his four-wheel-drive and crashed it into a Sydney bay was distracted by his keys, police say.

The driver was travelling down Brent St near Drumoyne in Sydney and failed to negotiate into Henley Marine Drive, crashing over the guard rail and into the Iron Cove Bay about 9.50pm last night, reported
The man then exited the vehicle through his window before swimming back to shore and saying "I bloody better be covered''.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said the motorist bent down to pick up his lanyard and keys which had dropped to the floor of the vehicle.
Police on the scene said he was not affected by alcohol or drugs.
The vehicle will be lifted out of the harbour by a crane later today when the water level has dropped to low tide.
