DELMAR, Del., June 2 (UPI) -- Authorities in Delaware said a man wanted in Maryland was arrested at a motel after fellow patrons heard him talking on his phone about being sought by police.
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said patrons at the Traveler's Motel on Route 13 in Delmar called 911 Tuesday after hearing Richard Vermalyea, 32, talking loudly on his phone in an adjacent room about being wanted by authorities, WGMD-FM, Rehoboth Beach, Del., reported Wednesday.
Deputies said Vermalyea is wanted on two open warrants in Cecil County, Md., for failure to appear in a felony theft case and for a violation of probation in a felony theft case
The sheriff's office said the suspect was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail and was awaiting transfer to Cecil County.
