Latvian TV3 dispute escalates
08.50 Europe/London, July 11, 2011 By Chris Dziadul

The Latvian incumbent telco Lattelecom was been forced to stop retransmitting the Viasat channel TV3 on its IPTV platform following a ruling by the Riga District Court.

The move has been criticised by Lattelecom, with its commercial director Kerli Gabrilovica saying that TV3 does not care about its viewers, who will have to suffer as a result of the channel’s aggressive business practices.

Lattelecom has now referred the matter to the National Council for Electronic Media (NEPLP) and the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (CRPC).

Although Lattelecom has replaced TV3 with the Russian channel NTV Mir on its IPTV platform, it will continue to carry it on its DTT service.
