The Latvian incumbent telco Lattelecom has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Chinese electronics manufacturer Huawei to construct a platform for multimedia services by the end of the year.
Lattelecom began upgrading its network in 2008 and expects to have spent LVL62 million (€87.2 million) on the process by the end of this year.
It sees the introduction of a multimedia platform as the final step of the network’s modernisation.
Lattelecom is backed by TeliaSonera and operates both an IPTV service and Latvia’s DTT network.
