KidsCo set to cease broadcasts

Multi-lingual kids channels KidsCo will close down its operations, the broadcaster has said.
In a statement, KidsCo said: “As one of many children’s linear services available in the international market, growing the KidsCo business has been challenging. As a result, both shareholders – NBCUniversal and Corus Entertainment – have decided to discontinue the joint venture service by early 2014.”
The European broadcasts will cease on December 31, while the feeds to South Africa and Asia will be discontinued at the end of February 2014.
KidsCo is majority owned by NBC Universal, with 51% of the shares and Corus with 43.8% being the second largest stakeholders in the children’s channel.
