Key changes in Russian broadcasting
October 4, 2012 10.32 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

TV broadcasting in Moscow is to become unified following a change on the ownership structure of ‘Moskoviya’, or Channel 3.

According to Kommersant, the station is now wholly owned by the Central Fuel Company, which is effectively controlled by the Moscow government.

So, too, is TV Center, and they both already share the same frequency.

Data produced by TNS Russia shows that Moskoviya had an audience share of 3.8% among viewers aged 18+ in the city in the period January-September, while TV Center claimed 4.5%.

TV Center was majority owned by Sistema prior to its take-over.

Separately, it has been reported that NTV is now the most popular station in Russia, having secured a higher audience share nationally than both Channel One and Rossiya in the last week of September.
