Irdeto, Cyfrowy Polsat ink mobile TV deal

The leading Polish DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat has signed a cooperation agreement with Irdeto under which the latter will provide conditional access and technical support for a paid mobile DTT service.
Alongside the agreement Cyfrowy Polsat plans to develop the market of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, DVB-T USB sticks and portable routers for mobile TV reception.
According to Dariusz Dzialkowski, a board member of Cyfrowy Polsat responsible for technical affairs, talks are under way to select the first suppliers and manufacturers of mobile devices.
Although the company has already received “interesting offers”, it is open to further proposals.
Cyfrowy Polsat acquired Info TV FM, the company that holds the mobile TV licence in Poland, on October 28 and plans to develop the service using its infrastructure.
