IPTV grows in Poland
November 29, 2012 09.04 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Poland’s first independent IPTV platform has made its debut, with a second likely to follow in H1 next year.

Known as Next Plus, the new operation, which is a joint venture between Astro and Next Plus Ltd, is targeting users of smartphones, tablets and connected TVs and offers viewers a Mini package consisting of 27 channels for PLN9.99 (€2.43) a month and a Basic 70-channel package for PLN24.99 a month.

They are also given access to a VOD library consisting of several hundred titles.

Gazeta Wyborcza reports that Next Plus is currently operating in beta, with only an Android app available.

It adds that the second platform will be operated by the ZPR group, whose interests include the channels Eska TV and Polo TV.

Significantly, it expects its service will be made available via DTT as well as over the internet.
