Installing OpenRSI from official firmware. DOM vs USB method pro's and con's?

Hello

I've had my AZBox Prem HD for a number of years now and followed the progress of unofficial firmware from a distance, waiting for the majority of bugs to be ironed out and for the images to become somewhat stable. With the official firmware done, with only the latest being released by authorised dealers and third party editions (one of which I tested which was extremely slow zapping), I think it's about time I jumped on board the OpenRSI fun wagon!

I've just discovered it's now possible to download the OpenRSI firmware directly on my AZBox and install from there. This suits me perfectly as I want this up and running ASAP without any major hicups. I will of course learn AZUP, Jazup etc in order to update further when I have time, but for now the download option suits me best, but for worry, DOM install.

The download option installs to DOM where as manual install guides refer to USB. Does the USB method still install to DOM or does it actually run from USB? Ideally I would like the option to be able to revert to official firmware if needs be, so is this possible with either methods. It's highly unlikely, but nice option to have just in case. I've read of one case where a user had to JTAG to get back to official firmware and want to avoid JTAG necessities.

Are there any other pro's and con's between the two install methods, or anything else I should be aware of before I start please? If I do go the USB route, is there an up to date guide I should follow please? I have one already, but it's pretty old, ****** back to 2011.

One last questions, and probably the most important, which firmware should I actual go in terms of stability as I've discovered there are many such as Spaze, openazbox to name but a few?!

Thank you
