Got a Dreambox 800SE(clone) now what?

Hi,

I bought a Dreambox 800 SE clone. I'm totally clueless..

Image: ? don't know, the background says allrussian.info, did found in the config saying it was from 2010?

When I boot it the display says BT 82 and SIM2..
Boot loader: 82
SIM 2.10 Card.

1) I would like to update the bootloader to the newest version available for the clones.. is that 84b? how do I update the BT? can someone point me to a step by step guide? and a link to the files..

which one of those files? and it says for original, I need a patched one??



2) install a new image, preferably openpli..
Link to the latest OpenPli patched version? and how to update it??

Since you have no background information about the box,
my advice is DO NOT Change anything until you get familiar with the system.
Another advice, keep reading through the threads until you become confident and familiar with the box.
If you do anything with little background information, you may end up having a dead box.

Until you know what you are doing, remember:
If it is not broken, do not fix it!​

thanks for the advice..

I know a little bit after having read some more..

1) to flash BT I need to power it up while holding down the power button on front of the dreambox.. it will display the **STOP** AND IP

2) from a browser update, navigate to the IP and select the bootloader file and update

3) read something about.. that I should NOT boot after updating the bootloader.. but should update the image from same browser window.. and first boot when image is also updated.

Are these steps correct?

but which BT files to use? and where are the patched version?

To flash the bootloader via browser use the 84b.nfi

I'm not sure about the update process that I posted above.

or is this the coorect way?

1 Flash mode
2 update bootloader
3 boot while booting load in to flash mode again
4 flash image
5 after image flash bootloader again from step 2 again

what will happen if I after step 2(BT updated to 84b) just boot up to the existing old image? will I break it?

I found this image.. so if I do step 1 to 4! I don't need to do step 5 because the image includes 84B driver? is that correctly understood?

Same process as flashing a image it take seconds to flash a boot loader.

But there are prepatched images in the image section and all you need to do is flash the image these have the 84b and latest compatible drivers too.

Bootloaders do not contain driver, there different all together

Its 84b and yes you can just flash that it includes drivers and 84b this will update your box from 82 to 84 yes.
