10.45 Europe/London, August 29, 2011 By Robert Briel

IFA 2011 – BERLIN. The German firm VideoWeb has introduced a stand-alone set-top box, the VideoWeb TV, which turns any TV set into a connected device. The set-top, which retails at €149, is showing at this year’s IFA in Berlin.

The VideoWeb TV set connects wirelessly to the internet, as well as to the local home network enabling access to video content on the web as well as to locally stored content.

VideoWeb has also extended its range of products with the high-end cable or satellite hybrid set VideoWeb 750 series.

These high-end devices included dual cable (DVB-C) or satellite (DVB-S2) tuners, HbbTV red button functionality, a browser app to access web sites, direct access to YouTube, Picasa, Putpat, Napster and Aupeo and to the main German and international video portals.

The DVB-S2 hybrid receiver also includes two CI-Plus slots for reception of the Astra HD+ service, as well as other encrypted channels.
