Fuel TV launches on OSN
January 9, 2013

Action sports channel Fuel TV has launched on Middle East pay TV provider OSN.

The channel, which focuses on action sports and lifestyle, was acquired in EMEA from Fox by Portugal-based Fluid Youth Culture last year. Fuel TV will become a 24/7 HD channel only available on the Eutelsat Eurobird 9 satellite from February.

“We are delighted that Fuel TV has found such a high-profile and enthusiastic partner in the Middle East committed to bringing the very best in action sports programming to the region. With Fuel TV’s unique combination of live sports events from the likes of the WST surf tour, and the world’s leading motocross and skateboarding championships to irreverent shows about up and coming action sports stars, this channel speaks to the all-important youth demographic and pulls them back to the TV set,” said Fernando Figueiredo, CEO of Fuel TV EMEA.

January 9, 2013 21.15 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Fuel TV has launched on OSN, a pay-TV network in the Middle East and North Africa. In February the channel will go full HD 24/7.

As of February, Fuel TV will be switching to a 24/7 HD feed only on Eutelsat’s Eurobird 9 (EB9).

We are delighted that Fuel TV has found such a high-profile and enthusiastic partner in the Middle East committed to bringing the very best in action sports programming to the region,” said Fernando Figueiredo, CEO of Fuel TV, EMEA, in a statement.

“With Fuel TV’s unique combination of live sports events from the likes of the WST surf tour, and the world’s leading motocross and skateboarding championships to irreverent shows about up and coming action sports stars, this channel speaks to the all-important youth demographic and pulls them back to the TV set.”

Emad Morcos, VP, Business Development, Strategy and Digital added: “Fuel TV will complement our existing sports channels addressing demand for more thrill seeking sports from around the world. As we continue to grow and analyse customer preferences, we will continue to bring on board fresh content that satisfies all customer segments.

“I am confident that our Middle East subscribers will enjoy the exclusive content that Fuel TV has to offer especially among our younger segments.”

Fuel TV which focuses exclusively on core action sports and the lifestyle that surrounds them is now the fastest growing action sports channel in the region, following the buy-out of the channel in EMEA from Fox by Portugal-based Fluid Youth Culture.
