FIC Spain acquires Viajar channel
17.16 Europe/London, October 27, 2011 By Robert Briel

Fox International Channels (FIC), the international multimedia subsidiary of Fox Entertainment Group, has announced the acquisition of Viajar, the Spanish documentary channel, from Prisa TV.

Fully dedicated to travel and travellers and available in SD and HD, Viajar will join eight existing FIC pay-TV networks in the market: the entertainment channels FOX, FOX HD and FoxCrime; the documentary channels National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Channel HD, Nat Geo Wild and Nat Geo Wild HD, as well as the children’s channel Baby TV. The acquisition of Viajar brings the number of channels distributed by FIC in Spain to 10.

Viajar will retain its positioning, style, formats and programming and will continue to broadcast documentaries and series focused on the exploration of the world from the nearest landscapes to the furthest cultures and countries. Programming highlights will examine a wide variety of destinations on all continents, including cities of the world, wilderness & nature, adventure trips and hotels.

Viajar launched in 1997 in Spain. Since then, the channel has increased its audience to become one of the leading documentary channels in the local pay-TV market.
