ESPN launches enhanced goals app
By Colin Mann

Following its launch for the 2010/11 English Premier League football season, ESPN has confirmed that its ESPN Goals app is now free for the coming campaign.

Goals and video clips from all 380 Premier League matches will be available on mobile devices via Apple iTunes, Android Market Nokia’s OVI Store, the BlackBerry App World and Windows Phone Marketplace, expanding to two news platforms in its second season, covering the entire range of major smartphone platforms.

Tom Gleeson, vice president, digital media, ESPN International, said that in its first season, ESPN Goals showed advertisers the audience that they could reach on mobile. “In season two, we want to connect even more fans to all the goals from every match in the Barclays Premier League.”

“As a publisher, we have a simple philosophy,” said Amil Nacir, director of mobile, ESPN. “We want to service sports fans on whatever device. We recognise that mobile is a very important content delivery system.
