Ok, ive a weird one, ive a 4way diseqc 1.0 switch. Now, port 1 goes to astra 2, port 2 hotbird, port 3 hispasat and port 4 Astra 1. If i disconnect astra 2 (port 1) the other ports work fine and it switches between the remaining ports with no problem. But if i connect port 1 back again for Astra 2, nothing works apart from port 1 and it wont switch to the other ports? Any advice please.

Is it a new switch ? If not it is possible it is faulty.
Try switch all the ports around and then set them up again on the 500 to the new ports. If the same port causes trouble then it could be the switch if the problem goes to another port then it may be the cabling or lnb associated with that port.
Just thoughts mate something to look at.

Change the diseqc switch, dreamboxes are sensitive to cheap switches. I suggest that you buy a SPAUN diseqc switch
