CSA ban on M6, TF1 switch to free overturned

The French Conseil d’Etat has cancelled TV regulatory body CSA’s decision which outlawing the transfer of news and entertainment pay TV channels LCI (TF1) and Paris Première (M6) to free DTT. The CSA argued the arrival of both channels could weaken the free DTT advertising ecosystem and lead to the closure of other channels.
The Conseil d’Etat ruled the decision wrong because of a procedural irregularity, that didn’t take into account any previous economic analysis. It is now asking CSA to re-examine M6’s request within the next six months.
