Croatia tugs on Telekom Austria

Telekom Austria’s August acquisition of Croatia’s largest cable operator B.net helped lift an otherwise depressed quarter in the region.
B.net contributed €5.6 million revenues in the third quarter having been incorporated in Telekom Austria’s Croatian segment from August 8. The revenues were welcome as mobile operator Vipnet saw its market share among mobile subscribers decline to 39.6%, though contract share increased from 31.8% to 34.2% and mobile broadband subscriber base increased by 19.1% to more than 195,300 subscribers.
In all operating income in the Croatian segment declined by 14.6% to €35.2 million.
IPTV in the domestic market of Austria provided a better story, rising by more than 186,000 customers in the third quarter 2011.
