Connecting technomate tm500 to pc by RS242

I connected my technomate tm500 to my PC via RS232 intending to transfer a patch. My pc's explorer does not pick up the box which tells me that I am doing something wrong or merely that something else is missing. Although I can connect to the box via web browser, I have not been able to transfer the patch. Can someone help please?

If its a TM500 and you want to transfer an image (Patch is for non linux)
Then use Technomate Control Centre (TCC)

have you tried the web-if method? switch off at the rear then while holding the standby button switch back on util you are given the last 2 number of the ip address. E.G. 192.168.XXX.99 if you now type into the browser instead of bringing up web-x-tv it should bring up the mini-web-interface were you can upgrade the firmware , cccam.cfg ect. rgds
