Coming to CTAM Eurosummit 2011 in Malta

13.41 Europe/London, September 20, 2011 By Robert Briel

For many attendees at the CTAM Eurosummit 2011 it will be the first time on the island. Malta is the name of the country and also of the main island, as the country is actually an archipelago. It lies virtually in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, some 93kms south of the Italian island of Sicily.
Arriving at Malta International Airport the best way to the hotel will be by taxi. More information on the airport can be found on the airport’s official website. This includes current information about arrivals and departures.
Taxi services from the airport to all localities in Malta are based on a fixed tariff. The trip to the Westin Dragonara Resort will set you back around €20.
When on the island, the white taxi service can pick up passengers from anywhere, except bus stops. Useful tip: Inquire and agree on a fare before you enter a taxi.
For tourist information about Malta, you can go to the tourist office when arriving at the airport in the arrivals area. Or you can visit the website Visit Malta.
A special interactive map of the island showing attractions, facilities and more can also be found on the Visit Malta website.
On January 1, 2008 Malta adopted the euro as its currency. Banks are normally open until early afternoon from Monday to Friday, and until midday on Saturday. Some banks/branches work longer hours.
Exchange bureaux at Malta International Airport are open 24 hours a day. International bankcards are accepted and foreign currency is easily exchanged. Banks, Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and exchange bureaux can be found all over the islands.
The official languages of Malta are Maltese and English. Maltese, a language of Semitic origin written in the Latin script, is the national language of Malta. Over the centuries, it has incorporated many words derived from English, Italian and French. Italian is also widely spoken.
The Westin Dragonara Resort rests on its 74,000-square-metre peninsula like a crown jewel, offering a glimpse of opulence and optimism to every guest. The azure waters of the Mediterranean lap against its private beach, rimming our lidos, casino and 340 sea view rooms with their refreshing buoyancy. More information is on the hotel’s
