Champions League tests Ultra HD
By Chris Forrester

Italian production company DBW Communication is working with Sky Italia and Eutelsat on an experimental closed circuit telecast of the UEFA Champions League football match between Juventus and Copenhagen on November 27th.

Six Ultra-HDTV/4K Sony F55 cameras will be used to capture the game at the Juventus Stadium in Turin. Normal HD cameras will also be used around the ground and it is these images that will be broadcast to Champions League viewers across Europe. However, the latest 4K equipment will be used to further test the quality of the transmission links, the ease of handling the data-stream and uplinking to a satellite.

DBW Communications have already worked on other 4K football productions as well as 3D versions of Italy’s X-Factor for Sky Italia.
