The AliExpress Web site is always a very good reference, and if you are in Asia better to buy directly in Asia.

DM800HDse and DM800HD "old" boxes (have Tuner extractable that is not on 525/520, definitely a minus for 525/520) are still very good today and support IPTV with even better software than new boxes, with GSTreamer 1.9.x.x or ExtePlayer3. You can install inside a 2.5 inch HDD with no problem, so definitely far better.

I dont live in China, so i did not want to wait so long for the delivery.
Thats why i ordered the new DM520s.
Is the flashing procedure same as the DM800hd se?
Can some be kind and give me a link for the images compatible with DM520s?

Good decision to buy an original Dreambox.
Little trouble with dubious image for scrap boxes!

flashing:

Via the rescue mode

1. Box using the power switch on the back turn

2. Shortly after turning the finger front place on the power button and hold it down. The LED flashes briefly in different colors. If it turns solid red one is in rescue mode.

3. In the browser enter the IP address and you're in rescue mode and the box can as usual flash

4. On the TV / screen that you are in rescue mode

I would recommend an image that is based on an original DreamOS!
This image would be the following:

Dream-Elite
original unstable Image + GP3.3 Plugin
Newnigma2 Daily Image
Oozoon Image
Merlin (comes later anyway!)

The important is that you choose what fits your needs, so it seems you don't need an HDD on it to do recording etc.

I like Black Hole images. Image is fast/ Ease to install and have a nice picture.
But in Blach Hole 3.0.2 menu is too left and no
possibility on older TV shift right.
Therefore, it is hardly visible.
In other cases, image is OK.

Ok, here is a stupid question.
I received my DM520S today, turned it on, and the setup menu came up with the list to choose output from 1080p and down.
But i cant choose anything in the list with the remote. The new remote is working on my DM800HD but nothing on DM520S.
The light on the remote is turning on when i press, but nothing is happening on the dreambox. I pressed both the button "dreambox" and "tv" but nothing happens.
Help!

It turned out the DM520 was broken and i received a new box today.
When you flash the box, does it have to be connected to the router with ethernet cable? I tried with wifi with no success.
And should the ip of the box appear on the tv screen?
