Bulgaria’s Mtel picks ZTE for TV Everywhere

Bulgarian telco Mtel has expanded its existing IPTV agreement with Chinese telecoms equipment vendor ZTE to power a new TV Everywhere service for TVs, PCs, tablets and smart phones.
The multiscreen service is delivered over fixed networks via IPTV as well as over mobile networks, and was expanded in scale over several phases following research on Bulgarian user behaviour, according to ZTE.
ZTE signed a five-year cooperation agreement with Mtel in 2011 to provide customised end-to-end solutions for IPTV middleware, digital rights management (DRM), a content delivery network (CDN) and set-top boxes.
Mtel is the biggest mobile operator in Bulgaria, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telekom Austria Group (TAG).
