European cultural channel Arte has launched its English and Spanish language versions on November 17, 2015, accompanying the existing German and French language versions.

The new language versions are offered during selected programmes on the internet at www.arte.tv/en and www.arte.tv/es as well as on auf www.arte.tv and on catch-up service arte+7.

With the free-of-charge service co-financed by the European Commission the channel wants to attract a broader audience. More than half (55%) of Europeans can now receive Arte in their native language.

Each week, around 12 new programme hours are offered in English and Spanish including documentaries, reportages, music and cultural programmes.

From December 2015, the two new language versions announced one year ago will also be available on smart TV sets.
