Agreement in TV2-Get dispute

TV2 has signed a new long-term distribution agreement with the cable distributor Get. It means the leading Norwegian commercial broadcaster will continue to be available through the cablenet’s basic cable packages.
The new agreement includes both TV2’s free-to-air channels and the new TV2 Sport.
As is so often the case the often bitter dispute revolved around how much should be paid for TV2’s channels including TV2 Sport and TV2 Zebra as well as the main commercial channel TV2 itself. In particular Get had expressed concern that TV2 Sport had been remodeled, and while some distributors offered the channel in basic, Get customers had to pay a monthly NOK199 (€26.55).
450,000 customers will benefit from the agreement.
“I am very pleased that after long and tough negotiations have reached an agreement with a major distributor such as Get”, says director of engineering and distribution of TV 2,” Øivind Johannessen. “Rather than spend time negotiating, we will now develop new and exciting services for the benefit of our viewers and the Get customers.”
Get-manager Gunnar Evensen said he was satisfied that the parties have now reached an agreement. “There has been a particularly challenging process and I am pleased that we can put this behind us, look forward and focus your energy on making a better TV experience for our customers,” said Evensen.
TV2 is still to reach agreement with Telenor’s Canal Digital.
