According to the 2010 Air Transport Industry Baggage Report this means one in every 100 tourists will suffer the dreaded missing bag.
Of the 25 million lost bags, 52 percent go missing during a transfer, 16 percent never get loaded.
A further 13 percent get mixed up in a security or ticketing error and 7 percent get lost during loading or unloading.
While it's incredibly annoying to lose your case (normally stranding you somewhere without underwear) at least you can be sure it annoys the airlines too -- it costs them £1.6 billion per year.
