    The Minidish

I think the Zone 2 dishes on a motor are quite capable. You’re always limited LNB wise though.

    The Minidish

Think you can pull 13e on them too. Is there a reason why the minidish was designed the way it was? Why not just use a 45/50cm conventional dish?

Are they still active? If so, not getting anything on my 1m. Sky is heavy here today though.

    Good quality lnb.

They’re difficult to find these days! I must say, I am impressed with it on my dish so far. Just want to put it up against the black ultra on some low strength feeds but on every TP I have been on, it destroys the latest black ultra.

    Good quality lnb.

Managed to find a Smart Titanium 0.1db twin on eBay - brand new, build date 2009. It absolutely trounces my Black Ultra on signal quality, - slightly down on signal strength on some TP’s. 100cm Orbital dish.

    Good quality lnb.

Heard great things about the GM202. My GM201 is a really good LNB. Runs the black ultra v2 incredibly close.

    Good quality lnb.

What were you watching on Thor? In the torrential rain and I mean biblical flash flood rain I got bad break up on 4K Heritage but that’s on a really tight beam. Don’t think I’ve ever lost Sky News International. I have lost 28.2 before though in storms. When the storm clouds are that heavy...

    Good quality lnb.

What db is the Smart? I have never tried a Smart but I have read other people say the same about MTI’s too. Some LNB’s work wonders on certain dishes. I have seen massive swings in signal quality on stronger TP’s using different LNB’s yet with feeds and weak TP’s on 26e only the Golden Media...

    Good quality lnb.

I’d give the black ultra a go then. If you’ve got one of the older original long neck ones, just keep running it until it dies. There is very little between the original and the v2.

    Good quality lnb.

A lot still rave about the black ultra. What 1m dish have you got? I have tried a Golden Media GM201 0.1db , Technomate TM-1 Gold 0.1db and the Inverto Black Ultra (v2) on my 99x109cm. The Inverto just about edges it but the Golden Media runs it incredibly close. A very slight advantage on...

    The Minidish

Launched in 1998 by BSkyB, for the start of new digital era, the Sky minidish was marketed as being smaller and more discrete than the current 60cm mesh dish used for analogue services at 19.2e. Why did it not venture into Europe for use with the Sky De and ITA services? Across Europe the...

this old beauty of a lnb lol the good old days

Sure I had a Nokia yellow cap universal LNB just like that on my old 60cm analogue dish.

    Satellite Dish Set Up Questions

If you’re gonna motorise it and can get away with it, go for a bigger dish than an 80cm. I wouldn’t go over a 1m though if it’s windy location, especially when using a Diseqc motor. An 80cm is the minimum you want for 16e. A lot of dishes are not the size they are advertised at. Some 1m dishes...

    Satellite Dish Set Up Questions

They’re frequently used on commercial building flat roofs - the heavy duty ones can take 1.2m Channel Master dishes so an 80cm will be no bother, Channel Masters are heavy with a fairly big wind load. As for 16e, strongest transponder is 11262 H 30000 Al Jazeera. Good luck, you’ll need a lot...

    Satellite Dish Set Up Questions

I have sat my dishes on a non penetrating ground mount before due to neighbours and stupid local regulations limiting dishes to 60cm. The joy of satellite is as long as you have a clear view of the sky, you’re laughing unlike an aerial that usually needs elevation, you can sit them on the floor...

    Satellite Dish Set Up Questions

You’ve got no chance with a 55cm. I doubt you’ll even find it, I couldn’t with a Triax 65cm. Apparently it is possible with a Sky Zone 2 but going multi LNB with a sky dish isn’t advised and you’ll have minimal rain margin. 16e is sandwiched in between two really strong satellites, 13e and...
