... instead of transmitting via Wide beam which is receivable from everywhere.
Short answer is because antenna size - 60cm and modulation - FEC 5/6 what they are using. On the Wide beam there is no sufficient margin for DTH on the north-east Black Sea coast of the country.

I don't see what could be the logic to circulate a test beam across Europe like a flashlight...
For fun. This is the only explanation that I have. Usually the satellite operators are doing such operations not public.

The steerable beam is twice as strong that the wide beam. It is more tight in the east-west direction, but is still a continental beam with more that 2000 km. To South is reaching North Africa and ending with sharp cut off. To North is flat up to Norway I believe. This is just a assumption, lets see the footprint. If this is the "Super Beam" Vivacom the only user should be the "Super Customer".

It seems that Eutelsat has moved the coverage of the strongest signal further east, so now there is no signal in the UK and Ireland. What is seen on the footprint is not necessarily authoritative.
Signal coverage was bad for Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey, so they had to "fix" it. It remains unclear that you in the UK and Ireland have no signal even with larger dishes?. It's probably still in the coverage test phase.

Apparently this new beam is not available from the west side of Europe. On March 1st I was able to tune all Vivacom frequencies from Malaga (South Spain) with a 80cm dish, but a few days later all these signals from stopped. And now checking with a 80cm from Madrid also no signal on these frequencies.

Yes when Beam started i had Full signal but since they changed the Beam i get 0%
i think they deliberately focus the beam too much to Northern and East countries
For Spain/Ire and UK obviously they deliberately do not want us to get a sniff of a signal
it is rather ignorant to say the least for anyone that may have been interested to take a legit Sub
i guess it's their Loss and they obviously do not want to do business . (n)
