With low memory has any one got this running sucessfully

@DKAftermath, Crossepg up and running on new NLB image........but;

1 no timed autoupdate
2 no automatic synch after reboot
(both are checked in the menu, automatic actions
3 after manual download box needs full reboot before crossepg can be used
4 occasional freeze while adding a timer to the scheduler from the grid view

Can you confirm same or offer advice

Thanks

I find that l need to reboot prior to download otherwise it freezes. I have not tried the timed update but the auto sync seems to work. It is working but need the auto download to work

i am sure i was reading somewhere else , that this is the case.

best thing to do is once a week do a manual EPG update and a manual sync.

also after manual download , its best to do a full reboot.

I have some freeze with this NLB while descrambling HD channels.
I experience those when I change from an audio channel to another language.

Does anyone has them also ?

I recommend that synch on boot and automatic download are both turned off because they don't work. I am convinced that having a failed synch on boot going on in the background contributes to some freezing of crossepg when selecting programs for recording.

@t.ph,

This is good news. Did you download it from the Sift panel ( which I did) ?

Perhaps you can tell me what files you used and how you installed and configured it.

I have tried three times and it just won't allow me even to configure it ?

@t.ph

I am talking about the SifTeam r11662 for Ipbox 9000HD image just to be sure we are talking about the same image.

We are talking about the same release SifTeam r11662 for Ipbox 9000HD. I just downloaded Crossepg from the panel. There are no special files to use as it self installs and i have installed the Black skin for it.

I take it that you are setting it up to store the data on your HDD? It wont work if you dont as there wont be enough memory on the STB. I only use it for 28.2. Just make sure you select OK for each preference. I dont let it auto update as i find as with previous version it just hangs and crashes the box. I do have it sync everytime on boot. When i want to update it i delete all files it creates on the HDD and then update as it always seems to work for me that way.

From the Plugin Panel select Crossepg.plugin or Yellow Button as i have mine set and set preferences by using Menu Button and then Start Downloader.

Thanks @t.ph

I used the SifTeam panel to install Crossepg 3.1 - couldn't be more straightforward
In terms of configuration I use the hard drive
I have auto download and auto synch on boot turned off (neither work for me on the NLB image)
I use the default skin - could this be an issue ?
I only use 28.2
I select OK(tick)for each preference
I would have it Synch on boot if it worked
but....
I don't delete the files on the HDD before a download
Do you use ftp to do this ?
I use red button for crossepg, yellow for synch
I use red button, menu, download to download

My issue was that one I installed & launched crossepg the auto synch started and the whole thing just grinds to a halt.
I wonder if the files on the HDD created by the previous NLB image and crossepg were the problem ? Maybe I should delete them before I start ?
What do you think ?

I would use ftp to delete from the HDD as those files are left behind when you uninstall or change images.

Go straight to download when you have everything sorted and if that all goes ok then you should be able to launch the plugin. The Synch shouldnt crash anything as that just synch with the STB epg. Even without using synch you should still be able to launch the plugin and view the epg.

I will give it another go this morning !

Full success but not instant !

1) I formatted the hard drive prior to the installation. I was moving from the latest NLB image so used the NLB PVR menu to format.

2) Then uploaded the Sifteam image via USB cable.

3)Set up the 2 tuners on 28.2 then channel scan.

4) Uploaded my preferred favourite groupings and satellite settings from relook pc editor

5) Changed url 2 (http://9000.freehost.pl/9000/)to enable me to download Mgcamd via the Sifteam panel

6) Download and install Mgcamd 1.33 (I cant get 1.35 to work from the freehost.pl panel download)

7) Edit newcamd.list and mgcamd.config via ftp

8) Check HDD via ftp

9) download crossepg via url 1

10)configure crossepg to 28.2 and my favourot groups

11)manual download
Manual download hung 3 times in the same place (step 4 out of 7)
So I decided to insert the USB preformatted in Linux ext 2 (using Paragon Hard Disc manager) and used the Sifteam Panel USB setup to enable swap file and move /var to USB

Success ! crossepg manual download works every time and so does timed autodownload and synch as well as synch on boot. So right now the image is working 100% apart from I have not yet got Mgcamd 1.35 working (it worked perfectly on the NLB image)

I hope that help someone !

Carrpet a couple of things that I've noticed. When moving between a DGS image and E2 or even different DGS type images, I have noticed that the hard disk sometimes gets automatically repartioned by the newly installed image and this then has led to problems with recordings, swap files and indeed crossepg. So your reformatting of the hard disk was probably sensible...

As far as the Mgcamd problem goes have you tried manually installing via ipk this version of 1.35 that is specific to the SIF image?

Thanks Marky Brook, good idea. I have Mgcamd 1.33 downloaded via the same Sifteam panel as the 1.35 download, and it works a treat in the Sifteam image. Mgcamd 1.35 works perfectly for me in the NLB image.

For sure in switching from an E2 image to DGS there is a tendency to end up with 2 partitions so formatting the drive is essential but my past experience on DGS images has been that the drive works happily on both. Either way I have learnt something.

Just want to get Mgcamd 1.35 away next then I will be very happy.
