Windows Vista??

depends on what pc spec your pc is running at.

vista home premium would be a good choice for a beginner

Vista Pro, XP still my prefered though

Don't update. Wait for the release of Windows 7. It's the OS that vista should have been. I think vista will untimately go the way of Windows Millenium.
