Can anyone tell me the file type this box uses for recorded movies, and how to move them from the receivers hard drive to the pc for editing/burning to disc etc regards Pippatron.

i think that is on mpg4, and you can move them by an ftp client.

You can use DCC, for example.

I am using ftp client. i recorded one movie on the receivers hard drive. When i vyew the media foulder with ftp i see six files with the same name as the movie, none of whitch i can drag to my desktop

Recorded video-files have extention TRP and this video not MPEG4.
I use TotalComander for copy this files.

They are transport stream files just with an extension a bit different, so you can play them with some player that supports ts or you can convert them to some more universal format.

yust rename the ***.trp filename to ***.ts. And you will be able to play it with lots of players ;)

If we go the opposite way and copy MPEG4 files to the receiver HD will it be able to play them?
