Applying a patch

if I apply some new patch to my system, will it maybe destroy other files or it will add just on top of others what I already have.

I found this patch for this channal but I dont what to screw everything else just for that channal.

I have Technomate TM5300+, and I want to apply this Cyfra patch.

trying to get the Canal+ Fr.

I need some proper patched loader. cause with mine some channels work some dont work.
