Spanish multimedia service provider Arantia has launched “Arantia World”, a platform for multimedia home entertainment integrating digital TV, the internet and new interactive services.

Arantia World also operates in hotels and public centres. The new platform will become commercial from next summer and integrates a digital service network for the intercommunication of all multimedia equipments in the home. The service is based on the company's own technology.

The new platform works on the Home Digital Center, a mediacentre receiving all of the multimedia digital services by integrating televisión with the internet and the access to a full range of interactive services, entertainment, security and communications. It also integrates all necessary connectivity for all the equipment in the home to communicate and at the same time to access online on-demand services and other interactive applications.

"This tool makes possible the 'Any Wire' concept through which communication is made possible by any disposable network in the home - either coaxial cable, telephone line or electric line," said Jacobo Penide, Arantia's CEO (pictured, above).

Being aware IP technology offers a new frame to make it possible to reinvent the relation between users and contents, Arantia bets on integration of all potentially demanded applications for end and business users in different installations. The company has developed technology and services capable of offering a global solution by including middleware, VOD server, EPG Generator, music, DTT and satellite channels, news services, promotion and advertising, as well as domotics and control, among others.

The company invests 15% of its revenues in R&D and has incorporated the Spanish internationally renowned industrial group Televés' experience in order to define this new concept.

The platform consists of a mediacentre and a service plataform. The equipment will cost below €300 and the platform will offer free-cost services and others under the payment model such as films renting at €2 each. And it will be offered either through telecommunication installers or big distribution surfaces such as El Corte Inglés or Alcampo.

The only thing the user needs is a TV set and an internet connection.
