Turkish pay-TV operator DigiTurk is facing a potential hit of 300 million Turkish New Lira (YTL) for an unlawful transfer of its licence.
One element of the penalty is already fixed, a 4.8m YTL “administrative fine” ($3.9m) for what local newspaper Cumhuriyet said had already been levied by Turkey’s Telecommunications Authority.
The next stage could be that DigiTurk would have levied on it a “Special Communications Tax” penalty of 300m YTL (about $240m).
