REAL MADRID last night tabled a £13.5million bid for Arjen Robben.

The Dutch winger, 23, is now waiting to learn if Chelsea will accept the offer.

Robben’s dad and agent Hans said: “I know Real have made a bid to Chelsea for my son.

"When you are talking about Real Madrid, it has to be said that it’s one of the best clubs in the world.

“Who wouldn’t want to play for Real Madrid? My son wants to play at clubs that can win the Champions League and Real Madrid is one of them.”

Real’s offer is virtually the same amount Chelsea forked out to land Florent Malouda from Lyon.

The Spanish giants are anxious to thrash out a deal.

President Ramon Calderon is reeling after Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas rejected Real’s advances last week.

Calderon promised to sign Fabregas and Robben during his electoral campaign last summer.

And he is desperate to deliver at least one of the stars to appease anxious fans.

But Blues manager Jose Mourinho has insisted Frenchman Malouda’s arrival will not force Robben out at Stamford Bridge.

And the Dutch winger has made it clear he is happy to stay if Real’s offer is rejected — even though he has so far failed to agree a new contract with the Blues.
