"Record ratings" for Disney Channel
Ratings for the Disney Channel have risen 48% since it changed from being a premium service to a basic package offering.
According to data from BARB, the Disney Channel now records a share of 2.5% amongst kids aged 4-15 between the hours of 6am and midnight, up from 1.5% six weeks ago. That makes the station the most popular commercial kids' channel, ahead of Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and the recently-launched CITV channel.
Pre-school channel Playhouse Disney has increased its share by a more impressive 83%, while new premium movie service Cinemagic - together with its timeshift channel - has averaged a 1.8% share of the demo.
Overall, the Disney Channel portfolio now comma*** a 5% share, up from 3.7% six weeks ago.
