Hello everyone, I own a Golden S890 HD and there isnīt support at all, I am going to get other HD receiver and Iīd like to know what is your opinion, Iīll use it for cccam here in Spain and share my server with another people of other countries, maybe I should make ther server with a PC and use my HD receiver just for seeing shared channels..
Iīd like to have good compatibility with diseqc for my multifeed dish and support for the future updates...just all this.
Looking forward your news..
I have both mate!
For me it would be the VU+ Duo every time.
A lot more hardware for you money dual tuner 2 card slots usb full size hard drive ci slots
Obviously the VU is more expensive if your thinking of a DM800 clone.

I think like you...I paid €300 one year ago for my GI-S890...
I prefer to pay €450 for a good receiver..I use it a lot and I need support, if some one could give development support maybe we could develope our own software...
Now I manage about 10 sats with my dish, from 7š east to 42šeast + 30š west...and I would like to find people for share foreing channels...cheers!!
jurekp123 17-03-2010, 11:48 VU+DUO is good choice
tango110 17-03-2010, 12:11 I also both have dm800 and vu+ duo
The vu+ is most value for money, and i have not regret i bought thsi box, must be my best buy ever for the cost :clapping:
Performance is also much better on vu+ compared to dm800
Ok, and how about of the quality of the picture???? I own a golden S890HD and itīs a great receiver...good quality both SD-HD, fast search...would be the VU+ Duo cool as golden in that aspect?? I am going to update the receiver soon but I need info..
For example, how it works the emu mode? now I have a firmware in golden S890 which I see some crypted channels as Mezzo in hotbird..in VU+ Duo how it works?? just installing some image??
HD picture is better than my DM 800 SD picture on par with it if you use the auto resolution plugin to tweak it.
see here too

Yeah, cool review, itīs incredible that a good receiver like VU+ hasnīt good quality in HD..anyway I should test it first I guess...I am happy with the quality of my golden S890, but there isnīt support and I need cccam...
HD picture is fantastic mate.
It's the SD picture that is nothing to write home about but it is a good as my 800 nothing else to compare it to at the moment.

scrupples 20-03-2010, 11:40 A lot of people are buying the VU+ Duo because of cccam, whats the chances of that not working in newer versions??
The VU uses a CPU of the same protocol same as the 800 and 8000.I very much doubt you could stop CCcam running on this.

scrupples 20-03-2010, 11:57 cheers m8, probably the only thing putting me off buying it!!
Note:
DM800 - Flash/RAM : 64 MB/256 MB
DM8000 - Flash/RAM : 128 MB/256 MB
VU+ - Flash/RAM : 128 MB/384 MB

I'm one happy owner of this great linux receiver.
Why I'm happy?Because finally I found one stable and fast box.
Finally a stronger box than DM,at a much better price, good support and very good software.
Perfect picture quality, that can run also at 60hz smoothly ,characteristic that other concurrent boxes don't have.
Two cardreaders, one for conax and the other one ,the number one Xcrypt, that can read any type of smartcard.Of course that the conax reader will read any card too, with the help of an emu.
The fear of burning cards is eliminated in these cardreaders. The cards are even cool.......
Finally a box that can run native CCcam and ALL the other Emu's developed at this time.
Has very good cooling systems,a very important embed, one that I only found at the very good box too,the IPbox. We all know that the DM is a real pizza oven.
You can build any type of HDD,for PVR usage and also can be used the 3 USB ports, and also record with the support of the twin tuner feature.
I have a lot of good words for this box,but I'd like to hear the revision of other owners too, for this VU+ Duo ,and if they do,I know for sure that will be only good words.

Is it right that newcs does not work on this box?
cheers
pako
Newcs R 1.67 is working ,but not very stable.
Anyway newcs is long time dead,is time for oscam and sbox.
These two are faster and better than newcs.
So,please let newcs rest in peace :)
have you tried 422 feeds do they work.
cheers
Have dm800 and VU+duo.
I would choose VU+duo 11 out of 10 times.
What owner can say about multimedia section on DUO for i.e. playing divx, mkv etc?
alhaaawee 01-07-2010, 16:46 DM 800 more support
alunfennell 02-07-2010, 14:14 No comparison Vu+ duo has twin tuners the DB800HD as only one, these two receivers are totaly different to each other.
The Vu+ Solo is more like the 800HD
The Vu+ Duo is more like the Vantage HD 8000 with twin tuner
What would say is the Vu+ range will be slightly behind with the new wave of Dreambox's coming later this year, boasting more powerfull processors from broadcom & larger internal memory.
Dreams new 7000 series & 800 models will be hitting the store later this year or January of next.
simpsmud 02-07-2010, 22:44 CAN I SAY VU+ DUO CAN NEVER BE COMPARED WITH THE UP COMING NEW IP BOX HD

How do you compare it to cuberevo 250 hd /ipbox 91hd? What about the picture quality on SD and HD?
I tried cuberevo and found opening channels a bit slow, is this due to the server? Which protocol do you recommend with the cuberevo 250hd?
thank you :)
stauffie 04-07-2010, 10:21 How do you compare it to cuberevo 250 hd /ipbox 91hd? What about the picture quality on SD and HD?
you cannot because on cuberevo or ip cccam is not running so switching times cannot be compared.
picture quallity is ok on the vu+
If you think its too much money maybe you should look at the solo box from VU+
LilleMama 04-07-2010, 10:36 I wouldnt recomment the solo version , the duo is so cheap that by getting a solo you loose the 2. tuner its super handy for independed recordings
What would say is the Vu+ range will be slightly behind with the new wave of Dreambox's coming later this year, boasting more powerfull processors from broadcom & larger internal memory.
Surely at that time even the VU team will come up with new models with more powerful processors & larger memory.
The comparison is done with what is actually on the market.
Apart from other things, If someone don't need the CI slots the second tuner and second smartcard slot of the VU+duo then go for the dm800hd, simple as that. But If you plan to use one of the above features in the future go for the VU+duo, why not.
as far as the ipbox goes i have had 9000hd box with all the combination of tuners.
picture quality sd/hd very good
hard ware good and a nice looking box.
bad points
very slow support from manufacturer if any.
cannot use cccam by it self.
low internal memory
software support no way near dream/vu+duo
my opinion stay away from it
by the way i have both box now ipbox9000hd and vu+duo
niaz ali 07-09-2010, 10:42 i want to buy also vu+duo but want mor knowledge and information
